CANINE CANCER

Chemotherapy and radiation are expensive. Many give up because they can't afford treatment. In the Appendix of our book, "Sparky Fights Back: A Little Dog's Big Battle Against Cancer," we list foundations in the United States and Canada that subsidize veterinary treatment for those in need. This is a growing list, and new organizations appear from time to time.Newly found organizations will be added here, to supplement the list in the book.FINANCIAL AIDIf you find yourself unable to pay the high costs of chemotherapy treatments, there are possibilities. Don't expect your veterinarian to subsidize your treatment. He/she must pay a staff, pay for the expensive chemicals, and spend to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field. A vet simply can't afford to subsidize patients.
CLICK HERE FOR LIST OF ADDITIONAL ORGANIZATIONS OFFERING FINANCIAL AID If you know of others, please e-mail us the information! Many organizations are local, usually tied in with specific facilities. For example, New York is served by a program called SAVE, which helps needy senior citizens pay for their pets' care. It's always a good idea to check with your vet's office first, to see what programs they might be connected with or recommend. Check with your local veterinary facilities, to see what's available in your area. There is only one financial aid organization we know of in Canada listed in "Sparky Fights Back." Please let us know if there are others. LOANSSometimes, going into debt is the only answer. You may be surprised to discover that CareCredit, a credit card for treatment of humans, also funds veterinary care! They advertise credit up to $25,000. Check to see if your veterinary facility uses this company. Taking a loan from a bank is a viable option for some. CHECK BACK AGAINTHIS PAGE IS UPDATED REGULARLY.
